- Future of Cities: This project focuses on using technology to improve and maintain cities. It will make cities more bearable and efficient.
- Signals and Systems for Life Sciences: This research examines the use of biometric signal processing to improve healthcare. It will improve diagnostics and treatment methods in hospitals.

Centre for Excellence in Robotics at IIT Kharagpur
This center was established in 2015 with an investment of Rs. 5 crores. This center functions as the hub for all robotics-related activities at IIT Kharagpur. This center focuses on designing and developing intelligent, autonomous robots. The center also enables student involvement, research projects, and courses in robotics.
Centre for Microfluidics at IIT Kharagpur
This research group studies the movement of tiny fluid particles at the micro and nano levels. Their work has shown technological advances in biotechnology, biomedical Engg, chemical Engg. It is also working on cooling systems for electronic devices. Some of the essential research areas of IIT Kharagpur are given below.
- It has low-cost diagnostic tools such as lab-on-a-CD and paper-based microfluidic devices.
